This version is in moderation and has not yet been approved. This means it doesn't show up under normal search.

  • Until approved, you should consider this package version unsafe - it could do very bad things to your system (it probably doesn't but you have been warned, that's why we have moderation).
  • This package version can change wildly over the course of moderation until it is approved. If you install it and it later has changes to this version, you will be out of sync with any changes that have been made to the package. Until approved, you should consider that this package version doesn't even exist.
  • You cannot install this package under normal scenarios. See How to install package version under moderation for more information.
  • There are also no guarantees that it will be approved.

There are versions of this package awaiting moderation (possibly just this one). See the Version History section below.

airexplorer has passed automated validation. It may have or may still fail other checks like testing (verification).
Congratulations! This package passed automatic validation review without flagging on any issues the validator currently checks. A human review could still turn up issues a computer may not easily find.

airexplorer has failed automated testing.
This is not the only check that is performed so check the package page to ensure a 'Ready' status.
Please visit https://gist.github.com/f10be14bf16c772a9b298df02e5d47ae for details.
The package status will be changed and will be waiting on your next actions.

  • NEW! We have a test environment for you to replicate the testing we do. This can be used at any time to test packages! See https://github.com/chocolatey/chocolatey-test-environment
  • Please log in and leave a review comment if you have questions and/or comments.
  • If you see the verifier needs to rerun testing against the package without resubmitting (a issue in the test results), you can do that on the package page in the review section.
  • If the verifier is incompatible with the package, please log in and leave a review comment if the package needs to bypass testing (e.g. package installs specific drivers).
  • Automated testing can also fail when a package is not completely silent or has pop ups (AutoHotKey can assist - a great example is the VeraCrypt package).
  • A package that cannot be made completely unattended should have the notSilent tag. Note that this must be approved by moderators.

It seems like it fails with downloading the file from "https://www.airexplorer.net/downloads/AirExplorer-OnlineInstaller.exe" but when i try to download the file myself it works. The error is "Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel", and i also tested this myself in another test environment with the same error.

Sanshiro (maintainer) on 13 Oct 2019 16:39:32 +00:00:

Sometimes, the test server outputs this type of error even the package is no problem.
"[ERROR] - ERROR: The remote file either doesn't exist, is unauthorized, or is forbidden for url"
Then I try to re-run verification tests. I hope it'll pass the verification testing next time.
Auto Verification Change - Verification tests have been set to rerun.

Same error again. But when I install it myself I get no error unless I use the testing environment. What is the appropriate solution in this case? Maybe to include the binary in the package? Or is there any way to get around the error?

flcdrg (reviewer) on 19 Oct 2019 08:49:38 +00:00:

See further along in the log - the underlying error is 'The request was aborted: Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel'

Take a look at https://stackoverflow.com/questions/41618766/powershell-invoke-webrequest-fails-with-ssl-tls-secure-channel

It will still fail automated testing since kb2919355 requires a reboot. Gep13 recommended that I request an exemption for the package, so this is me doing that.

The way to fix this is to move the binary to a connection that doesn't require TLS12, which I don't feel is necessary since it works on all modern systems and on older systems after a reboot.

Sanshiro (maintainer) on 09 Nov 2019 16:51:53 +00:00:

[System.Net.ServicePointManager]::SecurityProtocol = [System.Net.SecurityProtocolType]::Tls12;

Is this not working?

flcdrg (reviewer) on 09 Nov 2019 23:02:23 +00:00:

Apply the change suggested by Sanshiro to the install script, which should allow the download to work.

I think you may also need to request a testing exemption due to dependency reboots, but get the download working first.

C4illin (maintainer) on 10 Nov 2019 17:32:46 +00:00:

I have already tested with adding [System.Net.ServicePointManager]::SecurityProtocol = [System.Net.SecurityProtocolType]::Tls12; in my testing it didn't make any difference and therefore I removed it. The problem is that the testing environment can't use the necessary TLS12 cipher suite that is required for downloading without kb2919355. That's the only feature that is necessary from kb2919355 in this package as far as I can tell.

Source: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2929781/update-adds-new-tls-cipher-suites-and-changes-cipher-suite-priorities

I have also tested the package on a fresh installation of windows 10 with no problems.

Thanks for all the help both of you!

flcdrg (reviewer) on 10 Nov 2019 23:00:05 +00:00:

So if kb2919355 is installed, then TLS12 will work?

C4illin (maintainer) on 12 Nov 2019 12:41:30 +00:00:

yes

In cases where actual malware is found, the packages are subject to removal. Software sometimes has false positives. Moderators do not necessarily validate the safety of the underlying software, only that a package retrieves software from the official distribution point and/or validate embedded software against official distribution point (where distribution rights allow redistribution).

Chocolatey Pro provides runtime protection from possible malware.
