gpg4win-vanilla has passed automated validation. It may have or may still fail other checks like testing (verification).
Congratulations! This package passed automatic validation review without flagging on any issues the validator currently checks. A human review could still turn up issues a computer may not easily find.

chocolatey-ops (reviewer) on 19 Oct 2019 09:26:54 +00:00:

gpg4win-vanilla has failed automated testing.
This is not the only check that is performed so check the package page to ensure a 'Ready' status.
Please visit https://gist.github.com/b605bb956577cc0eaadd2f6c80fbfdc3 for details.
The package status will be changed and will be waiting on your next actions.

  • NEW! We have a test environment for you to replicate the testing we do. This can be used at any time to test packages! See https://github.com/chocolatey/chocolatey-test-environment
  • Please log in and leave a review comment if you have questions and/or comments.
  • If you see the verifier needs to rerun testing against the package without resubmitting (a issue in the test results), you can do that on the package page in the review section.
  • If the verifier is incompatible with the package, please log in and leave a review comment if the package needs to bypass testing (e.g. package installs specific drivers).
  • Automated testing can also fail when a package is not completely silent or has pop ups (AutoHotKey can assist - a great example is the VeraCrypt package).
  • A package that cannot be made completely unattended should have the notSilent tag. Note that this must be approved by moderators.

chocolatey-ops (reviewer) on 08 Nov 2019 09:28:22 +00:00:

We've found gpg4win-vanilla v2.3.4.20191019 in a submitted status and waiting for your next actions. It has had no updates for 20 or more days since a reviewer has asked for corrections. Please note that if there is no response or fix of the package within 15 days of this message, this package version will automatically be closed (rejected) due to being stale.

Take action:

  • Log in to the site and respond to the review comments.
  • Resubmit fixes for this version.
  • If the package version is failing automated checks, you can self-reject the package.

If your package is failing automated testing, you can use the chocolatey test environment to manually run the verification and determine what may need to be fixed.

Note: We don't like to see packages automatically rejected. It doesn't mean that we don't value your contributions, just that we can not continue to hold packages versions in a waiting status that have possibly been abandoned. If you don't believe you will be able to fix up this version of the package within 15 days, we strongly urge you to log in to the site and respond to the review comments until you are able to.

chocolatey-ops (reviewer) on 23 Nov 2019 09:31:40 +00:00:

Unfortunately there has not been progress to move gpg4win-vanilla v2.3.4.20191019 towards an approved status within 15 days after the last review message, so we need to close (reject) the package version at this time. If you want to pick this version up and move it towards approval in the future, use the contact site admins link on the package page and we can move it back into a submitted status so you can submit updates.

Status Change - Changed status of package from 'submitted' to 'rejected'.

Description

NOTE: This GPG distribution is no longer maintained. Instead, use gpg4win which is since v3.0 significantly lighter than what it was previously or gnupg which provides the modern command line version of GnuPG without any graphical tools.

Gpg4win-vanilla (GNU Privacy Guard for Windows) only installs the actual file encryption and digital signature command-line tool gpg.exe.

Gpg4win enables users to securely transport emails and files with the help of encryption and digital signatures. Encryption protects the contents against an unwanted party reading it. Digital signatures allow authors of files to sign them prior to distribution so a user may verify the file has not been tampered with and comes from a specific sender.

Gpg4win supports both relevant cryptography standards, OpenPGP and Secure Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (S/MIME) X.509 certificates, and is the official GnuPG distribution for Windows.

It is maintained by the developers of GnuPG. Gpg4win and the software included with Gpg4win are Free Software (Open Source; among other things free of charge for all commercial and non-commercial purposes).

Features

  • Supports OpenPGP and S/MIME
  • High algorithmic strength of GnuPG
  • SmartCards for OpenPGP and S/MIME
  • Sign single files or complete folders directly from the Windows Explorer with GpgEX or Kleopatra
  • Create and verify checksums of files directly from the Windows Explorer or Kleopatra
  • Outlook email plugin
  • User-friendly Certificate Selection and management
  • Import and export of certificates from and to (OpenPGP and X.509) certificate servers

More information:

Notes

Gpg4win is distributed in three editions and available by the following chocolatey packages:

gpg4win-vanilla

  • GnuPG
The backend (command-line interface); this is the actual encryption and digital signature tool used by the other software in the suite.

gpg4win-light

Includes all the above, and:

  • GNU Privacy Assistant (GPA)
An alternative program for managing OpenPGP and X.509 (S/MIME) certificates.
  • GnuPG for Outlook (GpgOL)
A plugin for the 32bit versions of Microsoft Outlook 2003/2007/2010/2013 (email encryption). For Outlook 2010/2013 GpgpOL supports the Exchange Server, but does not support MIME.
  • GPG Explorer eXtension (GpgEX)
A plugin for Microsoft Windows File Explorer to sign and encrypt messages using the context menu.
  • Claws Mail
A complete email application that offers good support for GnuPG. Also available as its own chocolatey package claws-mail.

gpg4win

Includes all the above, and:

  • Kleopatra
The central certificate administration of Gpg4win, which ensures uniform user navigation for all cryptographic operations.
  • Compendium
The documentation for beginner and advanced users, available in English and German.

In cases where actual malware is found, the packages are subject to removal. Software sometimes has false positives. Moderators do not necessarily validate the safety of the underlying software, only that a package retrieves software from the official distribution point and/or validate embedded software against official distribution point (where distribution rights allow redistribution).

Chocolatey Pro provides runtime protection from possible malware.
