Stubby

0.2.6.0

Package test results are passing.

This package was approved by moderator kenmaglio on 5/2/2019.

Stubby is an application that acts as a local DNS Privacy stub resolver (using DNS-over-TLS).
Stubby encrypts DNS queries sent from a client machine (desktop or laptop) to a DNS Privacy resolver
increasing end user privacy.

Features

  • Runs as a daemon listening on the loopback addresses (127.0.0.1, ::0)
  • Sends all outgoing DNS queries received on those addresses out over TLS
  • Uses a default configuration which provides Strict Privacy and uses a subset of the available DNS Privacy servers run by the Stubby developers
  • Has additional servers available for activation in the configuration file (e.g. Cloudflare, Quad9, Google)
  • For more details on configuring, testing and running stubby after installation see https://dnsprivacy.org/wiki/display/DP/Windows+installer+for+Stubby

To install Stubby, run the following command from the command line or from PowerShell:

C:\> choco install stubby

To upgrade Stubby, run the following command from the command line or from PowerShell:

C:\> choco upgrade stubby

Virus Scan Results

In cases where actual malware is found, the packages are subject to removal. Software sometimes has false positives. Moderators do not necessarily validate the safety of the underlying software, only that a package retrieves software from the official distribution point and/or validate embedded software against official distribution point (where distribution rights allow redistribution).

Chocolatey Pro provides runtime protection from possible malware.
