NOTE: This applies to both open source and commercial editions of Chocolatey.

1. Ensure you are set for organizational deployment

Please see the organizational deployment guide

  • Open Source or Commercial:
    • Proxy Repository - Create a proxy nuget repository on Nexus, Artifactory Pro, or a proxy Chocolatey repository on ProGet. Point your upstream to https://chocolatey.org/api/v2. Packages cache on first access automatically. Make sure your choco clients are using your proxy repository as a source and NOT the default community repository. See source command for more information.
    • You can also just download the package and push it to a repository Download

3. Enter your internal repository url

(this should look similar to https://chocolatey.org/api/v2)

4. Choose your deployment method:

choco upgrade vmware-horizon-client -y --source="'STEP 3 URL'" [other options]

See options you can pass to upgrade.

See best practices for scripting.

Add this to a PowerShell script or use a Batch script with tools and in places where you are calling directly to Chocolatey. If you are integrating, keep in mind enhanced exit codes.

If you do use a PowerShell script, use the following to ensure bad exit codes are shown as failures:

choco upgrade vmware-horizon-client -y --source="'STEP 3 URL'"
$exitCode = $LASTEXITCODE

Write-Verbose "Exit code was $exitCode"
$validExitCodes = @(0, 1605, 1614, 1641, 3010)
if ($validExitCodes -contains $exitCode) {
  Exit 0
}

Exit $exitCode

In cases where actual malware is found, the packages are subject to removal. Software sometimes has false positives. Moderators do not necessarily validate the safety of the underlying software, only that a package retrieves software from the official distribution point and/or validate embedded software against official distribution point (where distribution rights allow redistribution).

Chocolatey Pro provides runtime protection from possible malware.

The 5.0.0 release of Horizon Client for Windows contains the following new features:

VMware Horizon Client for Windows makes it easy to access your remote desktops and published applications with the best possible user experience on the Local Area Network (LAN) or across a Wide Area Network (WAN).

* Support for Windows 10, Windows 8 and 8.1, and Windows 7
* Unmatched performance - The adaptive capabilities of the PCoIP display protocol and the VMware Blast display protocol are optimized to deliver the best user experience, even over low-bandwidth and high-latency connections. Your remote desktops and published applications are fast and responsive, regardless of where you are.
* Simple connectivity - Horizon Client for Windows is tightly integrated with VMware Horizon 6 and Horizon 7 for simple setup and connectivity.
* Secure from any location - At your desk or away from the office, your data is delivered securely to you wherever you are. SSL/TLS encryption is always used to protect user credentials, and enhanced certificate checking is performed on the client device. Horizon Client supports optional RADIUS and RSA SecurID authentication. You can also install Horizon Client so that it runs in FIPS mode.
* User interface redesign
    Horizon Client for Windows now has a more modern user interface.
* Configure lock key synchronization
    Users can configure Horizon Client to synchronize the toggle states of the Num Lock, Scroll Lock, and Caps Lock keys from the client system to a remote desktop.
* DPI synchronization per connection
    If an administrator enables the new DPI Synchronization Per Connection agent group policy setting, DPI synchronization takes effect when users reconnect to a remote desktop. This setting is disabled by default. This feature requires Horizon Agent 7.8.
* Customize Horizon Client error messages
    An administrator can use the new Horizon Client Custom error screen footer client group policy setting to add custom help text to the bottom of all error messages that appear in the Horizon Client user interface.
* Customize Horizon Client menus
    An administrator can use the new Hide items in application context menu, Hide items in desktop context menu, Hide items in desktop toolbar, Hide items in system tray menu, and Hide items in the client toolbar menu client group policy settings to hide specific items in some menus in the Horizon Client user interface.
* Log in as current user feature behavior changes
    When users log in to a Horizon 7 version 7.8 server from Horizon Client, and the Log in as current user feature is enabled in Horizon Client, the following behavior changes might occur, depending on how the server is configured.
        * Users might still need to enter credentials. For details, see the information about the Accept logon as current user Connection Server setting in the VMware Horizon Client for Windows Installation and Setup Guide document.
        * The user's remote desktop might start automatically after the client system wakes up after being asleep.
* Domain security changes
    When users log in to a Horizon 7 version 7.8 server from Horizon Client, they might need to enter a domain in the User name text box, for example, domain\username or [email protected] Depending on the server configuration, the Domain drop-down menu might be hidden, or it might contain *DefaultDomain*. For details, see the information about the Send domain list and Hide domain list in client user interface global settings in the VMware Horizon Client for Windows Installation and Setup Guide document.
* Enhanced multiple monitor support
    Users can now use up to six monitors to display remote desktops and published applications.
