Android Studio is a new Android development environment based on IntelliJ IDEA. Similar to Eclipse with the ADT Plugin, Android Studio provides integrated Android developer tools for development and debugging.

On top of the capabilities you expect from IntelliJ, Android Studio offers:

  • Gradle-based build support.
  • Android-specific refactoring and quick fixes.
  • Lint tools to catch performance, usability, version compatibility and other problems.
  • ProGuard and app-signing capabilities.
  • Template-based wizards to create common Android designs and components.
  • A rich layout editor that allows you to drag-and-drop UI components, preview layouts on multiple screen configurations, and much more.

Package Parameters

The following package parameters can be set:

  • /PinnedToTaskbar - this put a shortcut on your taskbar to Android Studio.
  • /AddToDesktop - this puts a shortcut on your desktop to Android Studio.

These parameters can be passed to the installer with the use of -params.
For example: -params '"/PinnedToTaskbar:true /AddToDesktop:true"'.

To install Android Studio, run the following command from the command line or from PowerShell:

C:\> choco install androidstudio --version

To upgrade Android Studio, run the following command from the command line or from PowerShell:

C:\> choco upgrade androidstudio --version

Virus Scan Results

In cases where actual malware is found, the packages are subject to removal. Software sometimes has false positives. Moderators do not necessarily validate the safety of the underlying software, only that a package retrieves software from the official distribution point and/or validate embedded software against official distribution point (where distribution rights allow redistribution).

Chocolatey Pro provides runtime protection from possible malware.
